Michael Morris is a critically acclaimed Irish artist whose paintings have been lauded for their unique and vibrant style. Mostly self taught, Michael has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland for over 10 years.
His first solo show took place in Belfast in 2012. The previous year he was accepted to the Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibition. His work is held in many private and public collections worldwide, including a number of Hollywood stars.
Having previously been known for purely knife-work paintings Morris’ style has developed into a multi-layered approach, utilising various tools and consistencies of paint to achieve the desired mark. Often crafting the required tool himself.
His paintings have become darker, broody and uncompromising, capturing the energy of the city with loose brush strokes and sharp architectural lines. The peripheral areas drip and fracture, drawing the eye deeper into the composition.
